Just wondering if someone could help me understand what the booking codes me on an airline. For example, I have a booking code N on American Airlines, can I still call to try to upgrade for the nominal fee? Thanks

N is discounted coach. You can upgrade if you are AAdvantage Gold or above by using 500 mile e-stickers. If you are not elite with AA you would have to be booked in an unrestricted Y or B fare to upgrade... unless you are travelling internationally where a combination of miles and a copayment is required.
