This MD-11 spent 24 hours at Manchester, NH between June 16-17...the first time the type has visited MHT, we believe. She came in from Memphis operating as Flight 9090 and left 24 hours later, also as Flight 9090.
The plane parked off to the side of the normal ramp space that the A300s use.
I have two possibilities:
1.) The plane came here to do some testing of the HUD technology developed by a local company.
2.) The MD-11 might be used at MHT and FedEx was familiarizing ground crews with the aircraft.
I put a whole lot more credence into #1 rather than #2, but no one has been able to verify why N579FE was here.

When I used to live in Londonderry, I used to alway hear the FedEx and UPS heavies come in between 7pm and 11pm. Would have loved to hear this one (and see it)!

It obviously wasn't here on a freight run; I watched as she went out to our short runway (Runway 24) and it took barely half the 7,650-foot runway to lift off.

There was... I think it was posted by the same user? And I thought somebody answered the question for them, and it was there for HUD testing?

Thanks.
I posted it over on the Civil Aviation side but the moderators deleted my post almost immediately because they said it wasn't in the right forum (hence the posting here).
