Tail Number D-AIHU

Still very new to this. How can you track tail numbers to flights ? I type it into Flightaware, but get no results.

It's a Lufthansa A340-600

I believe that airlines individual aircraft go by their flight number designated for the day not tail number.

Ok. I figured there was a way to track this. But is there no way to track the tail numbers atleast back to the registered owner? As in the case of leased aircraft etc..?

Their are quite a few aircraft with unusual paint schemes, and it would be great to know when they would be at my home aiport, for some photo opportunites.
