From Bill Gunston’s ‘The development of jet and turbine aero engines’

One F.2/4 (Metrovick) was fitted with a two-stage open propfan to give an engine identical in layout to the American GE UDF of over 40 years later, but nobody was interested.


Would earlier demonstrations of propfans make any difference to any other programme?
