Why Was There A Ground Stop At PEK Today?

I flew CX317 PEK-HKG today, 2 August. We were delayed at our gate for 2 hours due to "airspace restriction" by Beijing ATC. I wasn't sitting near a window so didn't see if other planes were taking off/landing.

So my question is, did PEK have a airport-wise ground stop today this morning, or was that just affecting PEK-HKG routing?

I know during the Opening Ceremony of the Olympics, the Chinese government said that PEK airport would be shut down, but it's still almost a week away.

How often does this restriction happen; is it because of flow control or something? I had never come across this happening before. Also, the weather seemed good today too.

Don't know about your particular event. However the most common ground stop at PEK is due to low visibility, which is due to pollution. No joke.
