well just had a look at the waypoints it follows on flightaware (albeit for the CPT-LHR leg) and it went Cape Town - over Namibia, passed the coast of Congo, up through Gabon, Cameroon, Nigeria, Niger, Algeria, passed just east of Minorca, then just south of Lyon, passing Beauvais then into LHR.

I thought FlightAware was only valid for flights to/from North America. I just tried looking for the Capetown to Heathrow route (FACT-EGLL) and nothing came up. Am I missing something here?

Although flightaware doesnt show a line between the 2 airports, to the right of the map it does display the waypoints information. In this case :
