I was just thinking of some hub-airports of airlines that are not very far away like
Heathrow/Gatwick (BA)
Charles de Gaulle/Orly (AF)
Kastrup/Arlanda (SK)
Frankfurt/Munich (LH)
and how (LONGHAUL) aircrafts between these two hubs are transfered or repositioned?
Is this happening via W-Pattern somewhere far away from their homecountry or do the airlines operate ferryflights or revenue flights?

BA do try to operate this when positioning between LGW and LHR. For example an LGW based a/c needed in LHR will often operate LGW-MAN-LHR, with another operating LHR-MAN-LGW if required.
I'm pretty sure crews are bused/taxied between airports, I doubt they'd be subjected to the LHR-LGW National Express shuttle...
