Hello!

I have started to fly Q400 i flight simulator and I wonder if anyone know the typical climb rate and climb speed? Some props climb with a speed of 150-160 knots but I guess the Q400 have a higher climb speed?

The speeds I'm familiar with are:

160 - close to best rate, which would be approx. V2
185 - a compromise for speed and climb rate in busy areas
210 - faster speed, okay climb rate
230 - cruise climb

230 - cruise climb

I love the cruise climb in the ATC world, Till what altitude the Q hold that speed during standard temps/weights? Sure hope IAH gets to see the Q400's soon!!!!  Smile

IIRC, 16 to 18, depending on how much is onboard.

However, the engines burn a heck of a lot more fuel, so I rarely use it. Nevertheless, the Q400 will fly faster in level cruise than in a cruise climb.

185 or 210 climbs are my favorite. Of course, If ATC requests faster, we will always do it.

I did at WN.

I think that if anything stays, I'm able to hold it.

What a late Christmas present if you and other rumors I've heard are correct.
