Cruising Altitude For A CDG-NCE Flight?

I am soon going to fly this short flight and I would like to know the cruising altitude for this short flight? Does it climb as high as 30000 ft?

Typically, it would be FL 370. I don't know why but that's what both AFR and EZY seem to prefer. Now, if you depart late or whatever passes through the pilot's head, you'll get something lower.
CDG-NCE isn't that long. CDG or even ORY-BOD is shorter and these are limited to FL290 although routinely get cleared up to 350 when traffic permits.

When do you fly out? I may work your flight if tomorrow or monday!

The TGV is usually faster than flyiing from city center to city center after you add travel time to/from airports and time required for check-in, security checks, baggage claim etc.

The TGV between Paris and Marseille, 2nd largest city in France (and 3rd largest metro area after Paris and Lyon) averages about 3 hr 5 min to cover 416 miles (great circle, obviously longer on the surface). That's about 1:40 to 1:50 longer than the published block time of 1:15 to 1:25 for flights CDG/ORY-MRS. When you check-in time and travel time to/from the airports, there's no way flying is faster unless you live at the airport.

Yeah last time I made this route by air (ORY-NCE I think) it was before the TGV line went till Marseille. The problem with the TGV is when there is no LGV line (Ligne Grande Vitesse), it's much slower. I still take the plane for Paris-BES even if it's much shorter in distance, giving a theoretic advantage to the train, because half the line is not LGV and the train lose all its advantage because of this. BTW the altitude might depend on the plane ? On Nice it's mostly the navette I think in A32X but on BES you have F100, E190, CRJ100, A318, A320... I'm at the window all the flight and I noticed it's not always the same route, either.

At NCE I remember a landing pattern along the coast west to east, I was on a left window, beautiful ! And you think you're landing on water because the runway is in fact on a landfill. I also remember my bumpiest ride ever, on take-off, with the mountains trapping the weather, huge turbulences with all kinds of things flying in the cabin, bins opening, people screaming. Several times my butt didn't touch the seat. I loved it and was laughing all along ^^

I just checked and in fact Paris-Nice in TGV has exactly the same problem as Brest, the last part isn't an LGV yet and that ruins the total time : 5h20 at best. I didn't know because most of the time I go by car.

As you say, the problem with NCE is the slow last part of the TGV trip on normal tracks while MRS is high speed all the way.

TLS and NCE are the only big destinations from Paris where air transport still retains a large market share with train times above 5 hours. Other ones like Brest, Pau, Perpignan too but these are much smaller.

TLS should be down to 3 yours when the TGV line opens between Tours and toulouse (via Bordeaux). Nice will be ultimately connected, too, but will remain at a solid 4 hours so the plane will always have a point.
On the other hand, city pairs outside of Paris keep train services from another century. Had a day to spare last time I had to go to Lyon, and I took the train. from Bordeaux 9 hours (!!!). No competition here with the plane!

On topic, I have no idea why but today PAR-NCE stayed at FL310-350.Wind factor probably.
