Hi folks,

I was wondering if anyone knows the rate of fuel burn for an MD-83 running as a ferry? I have the fuel burn rate for a full plane, but know that its a considerable amount less for a ferry flight.

I got my numbers from this old sheet here: http://www.icao.int/icao/en/ro/allpirg/allpirg4/wp28app.pdf so I just adjusted for inflation and fuel costs.

Thanks for any help!

Chris

I have a fuel burn of approx 2,800 to 3,000 kgs per hour in mind. Fuel guzzling beast, the MD-83 ;-D

Ignoring fuel cost for the moment, that particular list has many errors as regards individual aircraft actual fuel consumption.
A good friend of mine recently ferried an MD-83, and according to him, the consumption found was 2,460 kg/hr at optimum levels.

Without a doubt.
However the list referenced has many discrepancies.
For example....

DC10-10 1793 USG/hr
L1011-500 1589 USG/hr

Both figures way low, even for a ferry.
