Airbus Weight Variants

So I'm looking at the A tech sheet and the weight variants for the A332, why would you have a variant with the same MTOW but different MZFW and MLW eg WV052 has 2000kg higher MZFW and MLW than the WV056 which has same MTOW. Is this because some airlines want slightly more payload but others slightly more range??

And then for the A333 there is WV020 and WV050 which have the same MTOW/MZFW,MLW weights!! As do WV022 and WV052.
