Hello....

I have noticed while flying on United Airlines' 777's that they still use the old school version of the safety demo...Is there any reason for this as there are tv screens in all seat backs and the audio could play overhead? Just curious why the 21st century jet uses old methods for things....Also is the common just on United or do any airlines use the tv version?

Ry

I believe they do a live demo on the 777 to assure that everyone sees it. The Personal Video Screens on the 777 are not all individually checked to be working before departure and not all required to be operative for aircraft dispatch. Many times one or more are broken. Therefore, it is done the "old school" way.

It also may have something to do with the fact that the first class screens fold out from the armrests. Showing the demo on the screens would require having each passenger fold out their screens and then put them away afterwards, extra work that the flight attendants don't really need before takeoff.

The old way is cool, especially when they show how to put on the oxygen masks... they wanna make it look like it kind of drops down and most of the times it looks absurd... Big grin

Kind Regards,

LOL, I got an audio recording of my last 777 flight, LAX-DEN....The lady hashed it up so bad with about a 6 minute pause to collect herself before resumming, she completed about the time the F/A's must take seats for takeoff, now if you know LAX that was a long time.....

I was looking thru some cabin shots on DAL's 777's it looks as if they have tv screens in the aisles, can somebody offer if they play video saftey demos?

My mother is a United flight attendant and flies the 777 fairly frequently. She said that the reason why they don't show the safety briefing over the PTV's is becuase the First/Business screens come out of the airmrests, and they may hinder an evacuation if one needed to take place during the briefing.

I'd ask for the same thing, my ICQ no. is 101170211 - I can't accept larger files through emails, so it'll have to be through ICQ or FTP (up- or download).

Actually, just had another thought, much easier too... if you download one of those simple CD burning tools off the internet, then you can make MP3's of the CD.... just a thought...  Smile

Ok I would love to help....Im thinking though, when I recorded the audio into the computer it was at very VERY low volume....So in the Car or anywhere you have to MAX the volume to hardly hear it, the tape is loud and clear though, if i find some method perhaps this could be arranged.....A330 where are you?
