I have just watched the famous double DVD Concord video. After studying the important and complex duties performed by the flight engineer, I wonder how a flight engineer incapacitation event during Mach 2 flight would be handled by the two other crew members? Is it possible to skip some of the flight engineer tasks during this kind of event? Did it ever occur in real life?

For F/E incapcitation he would always be removed from his seat and the F/O would move to the F/E seat, and carry out the F/E functions. This was practised regularly on the sim by the F/O and F/E swapping seats . As you can imagine no one was fully comfortable in in the wrong seat ,but checklist would be carried out to the detail but more time would be given for their completion. Whilst the F/O was in the F/E seat on the sim he would also be given couple of abnormal drill to complete. Whilst he was in that seat the F/E would control the aircraft's descent from Mach 2.0 to landing using the autopilot although many F/E would hand fly it with the help of the Flight Director. The 3 man flight crew on Concorde were a small group so information readily past between the 3 members, and cross monitoring was an essential part of the operation, so it was not really such a big thing to take over one of the other crews duties. Now whether the F/E would really like to the land the old girl is another question
