ULD Loading Positions In Aircrafts

Iis there a certain system or principle to define a loading position in an aircraft. This might be important for the sequence of the loading and unloading process.
How are loading positions defined for different types of aircrafts?
Is an international or IATA guideline existing?

Yes, there is an IATA standard. That doesn't necessarily mean it's universally followed, quite the contrary actually.

IATA Standard
Main-deck: Alpha (e.g. A, B, C ... (single-row) or AL (left), AR (right), BL, BR ... (twin-row))
Lower-deck: Alpha numeric (e.g. 11, 12, 13 ... 11L, 11R, 12L, 12R ...)

Boeing Standard
Main-deck: Alpha numeric (e.g. 11, 12, 13 ... 11L, 11R, 12L, 12R ...)
Lower-deck: Alpha numeric (e.g. 11, 12, 13 ... 11L, 11R, 12L, 12R ...)
Alternative Lower-deck (A31R, A31L, B32R, B32L, C33R, C33L etc)

One of the systems causes less confusion than the other.

I don't have information on how other cargo airlines with alpha-numeric main decks number their lower deck positions, but I do know that JAL's freighters continued the alpha-numeric numbering from the last number on the main deck. So, if the last main deck position is 16L/R, then the first lower deck position is 17L/R. There was no duplication of the position numbers for the main and lower deck.
