DL 757s In The Desert

Hello everyone,

Does anyone know the timeline of DL 75s going into and out of the desert? I know they generally put newer aircraft with less cycles in the desert so they can fly the heck out of the older ones. They put N631DL in the desert just this week. It's an older one. a 1987 build, but there are much older ones still flying. Is this one going in for good? How many more is DL putting in the desert in the near future? Any input would be appreciated!

Did N751AT finally head to the desert? I know everyone hates the old TZ birds. They're old and they don't have any gasper vents. According to Flightaware, 751 hasn't flown in 3 week.

No inside knowledge of its whereabouts, but it's not likely to get parked. It's probably in for a HMV. DL needs all the ETOPS 757s it can get, and the ex-ATA frames, while old, don't have nearly as many cycles as original DL frames of the same vintage.

Were also the first domestic frames to get economy comfort. They're not going anywhere for the foreseeable future.

Wait. The first birds to get Economy Comfort were gasper-less? So you get extra legroom to stretch out in your stuffy cabin? Makes no sense.

I've flown on the 75Vs many times and never felt that the cabin was "stuffy" due to no gaster vents. And it makes perfect sense because of the potential for up-sales on US-Hawaii.

And notice I didn't say they were the absolute first. I said they were the first *domestic* frames to get the EC mod. Not only that but there are only 4 so quite easy to get that sub-fleet out of the way.

I flew on 750AT (I think it was) twice and found it more on the cold side to maybe compensate for the lack of vents. This was two years ago.

Trivial but on all DL US-Hawaii flights, blankets are laid on each seat (like intercontinental flights but minus a pillow) and I made full use of it the last time I flew back from Hawaii (HNL-LAX-MSP) on a 75V.

Had the pleasure of flying two 75E SFO-HNL-MSP a few weeks ago and we had blankets AND pillows laid out for both flights. Looks like that route is flown by a 75A now. Glad the "nice" DL 757s aren't going anywhere!

Back on track, does anyone have tail #'s for the next couple 75s going to the desert? Any coming out in the foreseeable future?
