Bizarre Flight Track - Flightaware

I am tracking my wife's flight to Frankfurt and this is what shows up:


I know Flightaware has some bizarre stuff pop up from time to time, but this is the first time I have seen this. It looks like there were 100 planes all take a detour at a small section of time.

Is their software just really this wonky?
