737, Single A/pilot G/A, Why Not?

Why is that if we are doing a single channel autopilot approach (I am talking about the 737 here, so not aware if other aircraft are different) and decide to do a Go-around the autopilot drops out and we are left with the F/Ds, what is the reason we cannot fly a go-around with 1 autopilot but we can with 2?
