Right now we're having one of our usual cluster of summer thunderstorms and my FlightExplorer software shows all flights are being placed in holding patterns at the usual spots: Near Naples, above Key West and just west of Andros Island.
BahamasAir flight 229 though has headed straight through all of this directly to MIA.and has apparently landed on runway 9.
How is it that they were able to go right through, yet all the other flights are stuck in holding patterns?

FlightAware shows some other flights coming straight in from the east side of the airport/ storms without holding at near same time as Bahamas Air 229.
CSQ 964 & MTN7126 which landed right after BHS 229 - and EGF 4804 about 30 minutes earlier - note all 4 of those are turboprops which might have something to do with assignments to holding patterns, or not assigned to holding patterns.
Certainly Bahamas Air didn't come straight in without approval by ATC for the approach and landing.
I also see the EGF ATR flight from Key West came in straight without holding.
My 'guess' would be that short range turboprops like Key West and Nassau can hold on the ground until cleared in for a direct approach.
All of the flight were later than originally scheduled.
