Unusual DC3/47 Cockpit Windows

I was just browsing the database and noticed that there are two types of DC3/C47 cockpit front windows. Both have the opening side windows but some also have a split windscreen with what appears to contain a window that can open.

I have two questions

1: Why did some DC3/C47 aircraft have this split window, does it have something to do with it being a civilian DC3 or military C47?

2: What is the purpose of the split window and can it actually open?


I did a quick search but couldn't find any info.

I belive those are the original douplas design windows. From what i remember reading they leak terribly both water in rain and alchhol from the windshield anti ice system so a lot of them where replaced with single pane windshields


OBAMA-WORST PRESIDENT EVER....Even SKOORB would be better.
