I recently booked a couple flights on DL. When I was picking my seats I noticed the seating on the aircraft was different. I know they are different types but why is the seating on the MD-90 2-3 while the MD-88 is 3-2? Is it something to do with MD switching it up? If so what reason did they have for doing it?

It is an airline choice. Most MD-80s are 2-3 but Delta and Alaska chose 3-2 I believe because it suited their preferred galley configuration better. There may be a few other airlines out there that followed suit, but 3-2 is definitely the exception rather than the rule for the MD-80s. On the MD-90s Delta just did the same as everyone else.

Thanks! I figured it was airline option but I wasn't sure if it had something to do with W&B.
