So in light of EWR, LGA, and JFK having some submersion issues, I want to know how that floodwater effects the electronics involved with runway lights, ILS, and other systems at the airport.
I know they're supposed to handle rain, snow, and ice, but what about submersion?
Other submersion issues i've seen recently are like at SDJ and Don Muang Airport. What happens? Lots of repairs needed?

Quoting web500sjc (Reply 3): How about the ILS equipment. isnt that out in the open?
The antennas with weather proof sealed elements is out in the open. The building with the electronics might be susceptible to water four or five feet deep.

Paging a.net member mmedford...who's probably quite busy repairing localizers and glideslope transmitters as we speak...
I would imagine, though, that salt water is not very good for navaids, directional aids, or runway lighting It will be interesting to see the NOTAM's for OTS equipment once the airports in the NYC area open up again...
