Quoting dhawald3 (Thread starter): the flight phase 5 starts when the aircraft reaches 1500 ft after liftoff, and ends when during descent the plane reaches 800ft before touchdown.
That is 6, not 5
Quoting dhawald3 (Thread starter): want to know why these specific heights were chosen and why not same heights for liftoff and descent?
The flight phases are used to inhibit various warning from the crew in critical phases of flight, the takeoff inhibit is from application of takeoff thrust to 1500 ft (phases 3,4, & 5), and the landing inhibit from 800 ft down to 80 kts decelerating (phases 7 & 8). The only warning that the crew will get in these critical phases are important ones, like an engine fire.
