Would a Boeing 737-900 typically cover more or less than 150 km (93 miles/81 nm) in 16 minutes from take-off?
I'm uploading a picture, and would like to know if it was taken in Spanish or French airspace. The distance from BCN to the border, including a southbound departure and turn, should be about 150 km.
Thanks,
Peter

You don't need high speed under 10000ft to cover 150km in 16mins.
At 250kts IAS at 10000ft, the TAS of the aircraft is 300kts. That is well within the capability of virtually all airliners. Even using a conservative climb rate. You'll be at 10,000ft within 5 mins after takeoff.
Good judgement comes from experience. Experience comes from surviving bad judgement.

t cruise, it would be going considerably faster than that.
But it wasn''t cruising.
Yes, I know. My point was that, since it's going considerably faster in cruise, making it from departure during the climb/acceleration phase isn't an issue either.
