My buddy flies 747's for a cargo outfit and we're trying to get him a 747 cockpit seat and I figured this would be a good place to ask. Its not going to be put in an aircraft, strictly for ground use.
Any input/ideas would be appreciated. Its for a Christman gift (hopefully) so time is of the essence.

They're not going to come cheap, unless they're in a condition you wouldn't let your dog sleep in it. Best chance of securing one is probably with one of the airline scrap companies, but do not except them to part with one in reasonable condition for a pittance. You'll be competing with companies who specialise in taking those chairs, and other aviation hardware, and converting them into furniture to be flogged off at eye watering prices.
From receips and radials over straight pipes to big fans - been there, done that, got the hearing defects to prove

B777LRF thank you. I finally did find one website and you are correct. While you can get a jumpseat for a mere $195 the Captain/FO seats are around $2,500 range. My buddies gf is the one trying to secure one, she asked me to do the research. Not sure if she's willing to spend that much, we shall see.
In any case, it seems as if these are sold to be functional and used in an actual aircraft. That is not her criteria, so I'm hoping to find her one in a little less good condition which maybe cheaper.
Here's what I've found so far. Cool to look through.
