Hi All...I posted this question in the Civil Aviation Forum and was ignored so maybe you guys will be able to offer a response. I'll keep my fingers crossed.
I flew on a UA 737-800 from TPA to IAD that was equipped with Direct TV...but I noticed there was no offering of the regular pre-recorded audio channels. There weren't even any music channels on the DTV lineup either...am I to understand that DTV flights have no music channels? This confused me as I just wanted to listen to music but that aircraft didn't offer that option. I hope UA doesn't limit it's entertainment options on certain aircraft. Any input would be helpful as I am trying to understand the entertainment options available on their aircraft.

Wrong forum for this question mate but I'll help you out.
The UA 738's are the ex CO birds, so they come with the entertainment that CO offered prior to the merger. As UA never owned the 738's prior to the merger you wont find any of the standard UA IFE offering available including the pre recorded channels.
Cheers,
Boof

surprisingly enough? A LOT of customers are asking for the CH-9 option. I'm flabbergasted! I thought only We at UAL liked CH-9 I always found it interesting going Inbound to ORD from the west coast on the Red eye and Definitely interesting arriving at IAD or PHL. .

I will fly UAL for CH-9 if I have an option (as if it is in a reasonable price range).

Having worked in the industry and from being on both sides of the mic I like to keep up with where we are and what we may encounter as far as turbulence, landing runway and the like. I have found recently Ch. 9 not being used as much unless I ask one of the flight attendants to see if the flight deck will allow us to listen in.
