With one of these, through the main door (the stair's handrails are lowerable).

On US Dash8s opd by Piedmont, re catering is done by simply handing a bag of the cans of drink requested through the main door, the flight attendant is then responsible for storing all the items that were ordered. Actually all of the CRJ flights are catered the same way in all stations I believe. The E170/175s are the only ones which have their carts switched out. Also, the Piedmont DH8 handrails do not lower.

If I remember right, I recall the caterers just exchanging the rectangular metal containers (that slide into the galleys) by hand. These are not the taller carts but just the "ATLAS boxes".

Classic DHC 8 have a galley service door in the rear of the plane on the right hand side behind the cabin. The galley was meant to be in the back by the Cargo hold. However, an example of this not happening is NZ. The galley is located in the front behind the toilet and infront of row 1 (which is forward facing as opposed to the traditional backwards facing row 1) and this is serviced through the main door. The galley service door in this case is 'welded' shut, never to be used

Quoting ZKSUJ (Reply 5):

Not sure about galley door being "welded shut", but there were -300's built without that door and thus the galleys are in the front. The 100/200's were never designed with galleys in the rear.
