U2 And BA At LGW - Specific Gates?

Do BA and U2 concentrate their flights around a set of gates that only they use? or is LGW gate assignment at Terminal North completely random and one can have BA planes parked next to U2 next to EK next to another BA and so on?

Wouldn't it make sense for an airline like easyjet that is big at LGW to concentrate its flights around a specific part of the airport?

Oops, just realized that easyjet also departs from the South Terminal! They must be really huge then. How many planes have they got stationed at LGW now?

So at the North Terminal, is easyjet the sole user of Pier 6 with stands 101-113? And at the South Terminal, is easyjet the sole user of Pier 1 with stands 1-9? Or are other airlines also using these gates? And is easyjet using also other gates, or only these two Piers?

Gate assignment in the UK is pretty much random.

easyJet and BA share domestic from 551-554 and 57-58 on Pier 5, they're common use. Pier 6 is BA long and short haul, EZY, EZS and various others. Some gates are common, Virgin use 13,17,19,21,23 or Pier 3, Emirates use Pier 4. Beyond that it's pretty dynamic really. Pier 1 has/is being demolished and was used by EZY, FR, GR, BE etc.

easyJet is therefore seen on Pier 1 (until recently  ), Pier 2 (both sides), Pier 3 (all around), Pier 4, Pier 5 and Pier 6. They're EVERYWHERE !

Stand allocation at LGW is now done primarily by the airport operator. BA as the major user of the North Terminal used to have a lot of influence and pretty much told the airport which gates they'd like to park which flights on, but with the rise of easy jet, this is no longer tenable. Or fair.

The North Terminal was originally designed as International only, and the 551 - 553, 54 - 57 (IIRC) gates at the south west corner were made dual use subsequently. All are capable of accepting international inbound, but not all can launch international outbounds. The doors at the head of the airbridges are configured to route the pax accordingly. The BA/easyjet gate sharing creates frequent conflicts, when for example a U2 arrives and needs to have its pax routed down the inbound corridor across the boarding route of a BA flight.

I was wondering why the changed, my flights to the USA were usually from the gate 50+ area over the years, now I am having to put in the xtra leg work and go over the jet bridge more oftern.
