unless you are a pilot or an ATCO it is illegal to listen to airband radio in the U.K. and that includes via the internet.
However you are not likely to get caught unless you actually transmit. A reciever can be purchased from most avionics/pilot supply store, however would advice you not to bother.
Become a pilot instead, much more fun. You get to talk on the radio as much as you like! Perosonally I hate trying decode the crap you hear over VHF ( and at the early stage of flying I am at make a number of mistakes!)

Actually, listening to ATC is not at major criminal offence, as long as you stick to reciveing!
(Start transmitting, and we send out the VDF groups of the fire service to locate your ass! ( ) And they will be acompanied bye the police )
One other thing we do not appriciate is people listening in on the airband and recording, and publishing it after, let's say a plane crash.
