Compass On A C152

I was on a XC flight today in a 152 when all of the sudden the screw came loose from the compass that was on the front window and the compass started to swing from two or three wires attached to the back of it. Does anyone know what these wires are needed for?

it's probably for the light that is housed in the compass.
