The Dash 80, flown by Tex Johnston. Boeing management was furious, but "Tex" explained that it was a harmless 1 G manuever which posed no danger to the aircraft.

"Tex" Johnson, possibly one of the world's great test pilots, performed his acrobatic feat on Aug. 7th, 1955, above a crowd of thousands at the Seafair hydroplane course on Lake Washington. If I remember correctly, he did one roll on one pass, did a 180, and did a second roll on the return pass. Tex Johnson is a member of the National Aviation Hall of Fame.
