Do the major airlines normally keep spare nose cones for bird strike or weather damage?

I guess it's not feasible to have nose cones in stores/inventory that have the current paint scheme?

Do airlines swap parts if they don't have a cone on hand? Like the last pic of a Southwest cone on an America West bird.

What's another word for thesaurus?

Pretty much, yes.

I'm sure the "Spotters" out there have seen paint stipes that don't quite line up.

I once saw an ATA 727 with a Southwest 737 nose cone in Denver. That was a pretty nifty, but suprising, combination. At first I couldn't think as to how it ended up there as Southwest has no 727s, but then it dawned on me that its the same nose, and apparently they didn't change any of the design features.
