Back in the late eightes (or there-abouts) MD bought out Hughes (or their helicopter production at least). So the Hughes 500 became the MD 500. I think it was mid-production on the D model, so both manufacturer's names have been used. When the E model came out, it was strictly, the MD 500E. Sorry for the lack of details, but that's all I really remember of the whole transaction. I'm sure someone will follow with the juicy bits.

On a side note, Has everybody seen those MDC embossed wheel caps that go on the wheels of Mcdonnell Douglas products?
I frankly am shocked that Boeing hasn't asked for an AD on them to force operators of those aircraft to replace them with ones that are embossed with the name, "Boeing"
OBAMA-WORST PRESIDENT EVER....Even SKOORB would be better.
