I recently noticed that on take off in a 737, the spoilers seemed to deploy at varying degrees after rotation for a few hundred feet into the climb. Is this a function of the 73's trim?

On the 737, like many aircraft, have flight spoilers that can be used to assist roll-control by deploying asymetrically. Asymetrical deflection helps kill-off lift on that wing, thus lowering it at a more rapid rate than the ailerons could alone. On the 737, once the yoke is turned past 7 degrees the flight spoilers begin to raise asymetrically (the spoilers are not up on the other side).
