Why CLT officials built their international terminal on the opposite side of their longest runway, doesn't quite make sense to me. Anyway, I've noticed in my recent spotting trips that the A333 uses the east side runways a lot. 7,502 & 8,674 feet runways. Compared to the 10,000 footer on the west side. Also, B762s using terminal B (west side of airport), taxi around the other terminals to the 8,674 foot runway, when it would seem like the 10,000 footer would be the closest and longest. What gives? Would hot weather require the heavies to use the longest runway? Can anyone explain?
