What does the number in the navigation screen, top right hand conor mean? The lower number is Nautical miles to the waypoint, the time is above in Zulu time but why is there a decimal point in there? 0446.6Z is displayed View Large View MediumPhoto © Frank Schaefer

I'm guessing time in 24 hour Zulu format...

It's the ETA for that specific waypoint, in this case KADUN. The dot simply means a fraction less then a minute. From this pic View Large View MediumPhoto © Frank Schaefer we can see the ETA for the next waypoint is 0501z. Cheers Tony, B767-400er

Tony's correct. Here's a question, what time was the picture taken (UTC)?

Since it appears that they have just passed, or is exactly at the previous waypoint, I'd say 0421z. 25 minutes for 214nm sounds reasonable. However, since the ND is at 160nm, a little off on the screen can be miles off, so this is pure guess. Tony, B767-400er

The information to figure it out exactly what time each of the pictures was taken is on the display. Think about it a bit more...

Jetguy, I'd say Tony is pretty close. I used the GS readout from both displays and worked the problem Pilot ND: 532 Knots GS/207 NM from KADUN/23.5 minutes to KADUN/ KADUN ETA of 0446.3Z = photo time of ~0422.8Z Co-Pilot ND: 525 Knots GS/214 NM from KADUN/24.3 minutes to KADUN/ KADUN ETA of 0446.5Z =photo time of ~0422.3 Z Using those figures I'd predict the pictures were taken about 30-40 seconds apart. However, if you average the ground speeds you get 529 knots... that equates to 8.8 miles/minute....the two pictures are 7 miles apart which equates to 48 seconds   Anyone get anything different, I'm probably missing something.

Dan, Tony was close, but as he said, his answer was a pure guess. Lucky guesses don't count. You worked the problems the way I did and came up with the same answers. Anyone who agrees with me has to be right!   Jetguy

Jetguy, I'll take any chance to get out the good old whiz wheel and practice a little. Those skills are definitely perishable but come back with some tinkering.... I wonder what the future of the whiz wheel is when even rental C-172s have Garmin GNS430s. Dan
