In the first photo below of the Lufthansa 747's overhead panel, you can see a black switch that's labled EMERGENCY LIGHTS (near the center of the pix). Are these emergency lights located on the outside of the 747 (if so, where) or is this a test switch for the flight deck's emergency warning lights?
In this next photo of an Alitalia 747's cockpit, you can see a switch/lever in the middle of the overhead panel that's shaped like a ball. Most of the 747 cockpit photos on A.Net don't have a control on their overhead panel that's looks like a silver ball. Out of pure curiosity, can someone please let me know what system this ball controls.
