I did a search in the photo database just a little while ago, and found an interesting photo:

This is the original prototype for the Ilyushin IL-96M/T aircraft, which featured PW2337 engines under the wings and Rockwell/Collins avionics. It appears this same aircraft has been re-fitted with PS90A turbofans. However, I noticed the insignias on the engines which, though somewhat difficult to see, look like PW logos, and one other kind. I have heard talk of a joint venture between Pratt & Whitney and Aviadvigatel' to produce new, much better engines. Does anyone know the progress of this venture, if there has been any?

The photo caption says the engines on this aircraft ARE PW, but the design of the nacelles makes it obvious they are not. Here is a pic of the IL-96T, featuring the PWs:

I have a question, have any airlines so far placed any orders for the IL-96M/T? I know the -T is the only model which has been certifed by the FAA. And have there been any recent developments? Also, what about the Tu-204-220, the RB.211 powered variant? Any orders or further developments? I know that Air Cairo is the only current operator of the type.

I was very surprised when I saw this too. To answer one part of your question, the logos do look like P&W from a distance. My memory isnt that good from last August, but the logos were a silhouette of a lion's head with some sort of 'decoration' around the top to make them circular. That's not such a good description I know. A photo would be better but I left the MAKS close-up pic of the engines in Australia for Scotty to pick up... but I think that he still hasnt gone to get it from my mother  Wink/being sarcastic

If my memory is correct, the rear-most logo is PS-90 (like the SU IL9's have in cyrillic), the second one says 'Perm' or 'PMZ' with an icon if a plane etc etc.. and the front logo is the lion one I described above.

I flew 2x SU IL9s this year and I am happy to report that they are indeed kickass machines!!! I have dreams of drinking a nice cool Baltika#6 beer out of SUA310/737 metal... one day they might come true  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Mate, email me with your mom's details and I will get a friend to pop around and pick the stuff up. It completely slipped my mind mate. If I can get someone to do it this weekend I will scan and post the pic here if you like??

BTW...I am back up in Ellenbrook for a few weeks, which is why I will get a friend in Rivervale to pick the stuff up....you know how I am miles from anywhere at the moment...at least until I get another apartment in East Perth  Wink/being sarcastic
