Okay, here's the scenario. Boss wants me to find him the FAA Definition/Guidlines for Required Inspection Items...
Searched the FAR's all night...can't find it. Anyone got any concrete reference for the FAA's definition? Funny how they require the airlines to have an RII program but don't define exactly what that means.
We all know what it means, but I need it in black and white.

Try FAR 121.369 & 371. This is referenced in our General Maintenance Manual. It reads "The FAA defines Required Inspection Items (RII) as any major maintenance procedure, repair or alteration, that if improperly performed or if performed with incorrect parts or materials, could result in a failure, malfunction or defect endangering the safe operation of the aircraft."
