Why Is This Engine So Black?

Everytime I see a DC9 or MD80, The Number 2 Thrust Reversers are always BURNT BLACK, but the Number 1 Reversers are only a little bit dirty. What is the meaning of this? See?

Ffs, you answered this yourself in your last question. The APU exhaust makes the right engine black.

I wasn't even thinking about the APU exhaust, but that sounds logical.
