I have to admit that this might be an unusual question, but I´m wondering if there´s anything like General Aviation in Cuba.
I will spend some holidays there in a couple of weeks and I was thinking about renting a plane.
Unfortunately I couldn´t find anything related on the internet. Even the Aviation Authority of Cuba showed up with three!!! different addresses and phone-numbers.

And one more:

Do you know if there are any foreign licenses accepted?

Any help would be highly appreciated!

Dear Tadex -
Been there 3 times on charter flights - not staying much time, but private aviation forget it... you probably could ask someone for a ride in a AN-2, saw also a Aero-45 and a C-140... Cubans are still nervous about "spies" and private airplanes... doubt you will get much there...
Cubana pilots nice bunch if you want to meet them around airport... pilots are pilots in any countries anyway... aviation getting better there, some Airbus...
but mostly USSR-days vintage airplanes still. Take your licence with you to get in their operations office... carry picture of the planes you fly...
Cuba nice place for vacation, but prices going up for European tourists...
Streets are safe, day and night, people very friendly, but so poor...
Have a good vacation...

Many thanks for the information Skipper!!!

I´ll have a look when I´m there and maybe there is a chance to get a ride in a AN-2. Should be grate fun, I´ve always wanted to fly with one of those "oldie-birds".
I will post some pics if I manage to get a ride.

And before I forget,
my congrats to you and your son for his first solo.

Always happy landings!

Oh - I forgot Tadex -
I heard they practice glider flying for their aero club cadets... but where, no idea, could very well be inside the island, on the slopes...
The word in Spanish for glider is "planador" -
Maybe their operations office Aeropuerto Havana could help -
Phone number is 70 77 01 local call (Jose Marti airport)
Also other contact - Instituto de Aeronautica Civil - Rep. Cuba...
phone 55 11 26 local call Havana in city -
email - iaccppv@iacc33.get.cma.net
