Different Eicas Displays?

Hi everyone, I've noticed for some time that it seems that different engines have different EICAS Displays:


A SAA 744 (RB211's for this bird) has the EGT display on the EICAS where the KLM 744 (CF6) has only the N1 and EGT on the upper EICAS.

The same appears to be true on the 777. UA 777 with the Pratts, and a Lauda with the GE90:

However, the 757 looks like the RB's and the Pratts have the same:

The 767's have the differences like the 777 and 744 with some missing the EPR between the CF6, RB, Pratt 4060 and JT9D.

Is this simply the airline's choice of display, such as how some have the round style instruments on the 737 Ng's instead of the tape style such as WN and CO, or how some airlines opt for the V Bar FD over the crosshair, or do the engines differ in a way that some do not have an EPR calculation? Would someone care to explain?

RR & PW use EPR as the primary engine thrust indicator. N1 is there too, but most of the thrust figures in RR & PW use EPR
GE use N1 only.

Just a different way of doing it.

Not quite, the Rolls Royce RB.211 is a triple spool engine and so has EPR, N1, N2 and N3 indications. Pratts don't have N3.

Both the above use EPR as the primary power indication, whilst as Mandala said GE fans (like we have on our 767s) use N1.

This is certainly not airline option (like V-shaped f/d bars and ADI speed tapes etc...) it is all associated with the engines fitted. You will notice A320s with EPR as the primary power reference (V2500? engines) and some with just N1 (CFM engines).

Well, in truth, I often get to fly the airline executives in a little Learjet which is equipped with EICAS and FMS...

You mentioned V bars or crosshairs is not available choice... no no no...
The choice is indeed available... in that Learjet (since I hate V bars), I can press a little switch, and get the ADI display to show crosshairs as I like...

Hi Skipper,
I think Rick was referring to the EICAS displays (primary engine reference) when he said that they weren't airline options/choices. He did mention that the f/d bars and adi speed tapes are a choice.
