I was wondering if someone could give me a comparison between the engines on the A340-600 and the 777 (I am assuming that the 772 and 773 have the same engines) in size and performance.

Have a look here: http://www.rolls-royce.com/civil/products/turbofans/Default.htm for RR's engines, and go here: http://www.geae.com/engines/commercial/ge90/index.html for the GE90.

Well, off the top of my head, the A346's engines will do 60,000 lbs. of thrust, but they're derated to 56,000 lbs. for longer life. The smallest engines on a 777 are RRs and the least amount of power per engine on a 777 is like 76,000 lbs.

The A346's engines are about as large as a 767's engines, so that should be a good starting point for comparing the two.
