I always wanted to know what type of aircraft do those skywriters are using?

Also, when they write, what is there altitude and speed? Do these aircraft have any restrictions?

The altitude Im guessing there at is around 14,000 to 20,000 feet but I may be wrong.

Well, I'm not sure about some of the stuff, but I am pretty sure they write more in the 6000' AGL range.. the winds aloft at 14000' would blow the message away. Not to mention, flights up there have to have oxygen, which might be a financial problem for a small self-employed pilot.
