Can someone please explain ramp control ops at LAX? Where are these controllers located? Do aircraft parked at the end of the terminal still contact ramp for push or do they contact ground instead? Do ramp and ground communicate? Finally, does anyone know ramp frequencies for AA, DL and/or UA? Thanks.

All the answers you could ever want in one simple website:

http://avn.faa.gov/ap_diagrams.asp?search=lax&stateSearch=&select=&submit1=Search

And should you get the answers to your questions please let the rest of us trying to move stuff around LAX what they are. (Not to say there's a lack of consistency in operations...)

DL has a small control tower over their terminal. I believe that is where their ramp controllers work. AA ramp control is a room overlooking the C-10 alley. Not sure about others.

Do aircraft parked at the end of the terminal still contact ramp for push or do they contact ground instead?

LAX Ground Control if you're going to move anywhere on the taxiways. AA specifically lists the gates that need to call LAX, DL or AA before pushing.

Do ramp and ground communicate?

Not really. If LAX controllers have the time they usually keep an eye on what gates are open in areas that have their own ramp control, but often they'll just give you initial taxi instructions to clear their runway exits and to call them back when you (aircraft) find out your gate's status.

Finally, does anyone know ramp frequencies for AA, DL and/or UA?

Jepp. page 10-9B has ramp freqs listed, but I don't have my pubs with me at the moment.

AA Ramp Tower - 129.45
UA Ramp Tower - 129.4 (C6 alleyway)
UA Ramp Tower - 129.5 (C7 alleyway)
DL Ramp Tower - 131.45

Also Alaska has a ramp tower operation for the D10 alleyway (TBIT gates 119-122 and west side of Terminal 3). Don't recall the freq., but will post when I have the info.
