What is the best way for a regional airline pilot to fill his logbook in preparation for the interview with a major?

I have the little crew log--that part is obvious. What is the best way to transcribe that info into the big book for the info to be most presentable.

By individual leg?
Flight #?
Trip?
Day?

It was suggested to me that I keep the individual legs in the small crew logs and just transcribe that info to my "big" logbook by day. That way, the interviewers can see a simplified presentation of the time and can request the details if needed.

Is this sound advice?
