Unlike a flush mounting on the B732.The Area mike on this B732 is protruding out.
Is this common to improve pick up.

It's simply one manufacturer's microphone selection for that panel. I'm sorry but I can't remember who makes that particular panel. It's been too many years since I've seen one like that.
