I was just reading a report about the upcoming FAA requirement by May that all Part 121 carriers have to carry a AED (Automatic External Diffibulator) and the new EMK (Enhanced Medical Kit). Now my carrier is in the process of retro-fitting for the EMK (we already have had the AEDs onboard for quite a while). Now I've seen the EMK during my training and it's fairly larger in comparison to the old medical kit. My question is that where are they going to put it? It obviously can't fit in the old medical kits spot, and there isn't a whole lot of extra space anywhere else to put it.

Any MX people out there have any ideas?

Well most every airline we deal with already has the AED on board....as for the new Med kit.... I don't know...?? How big is it..?? It can fit under the last row seat..., on the aft bulkhead...., in the fwd coat closet...., in an overhead bin....

We've relocated all of the emergency equipment on the 145's to the compartment on the aisle on the side of the fwd galley. On the 145XR's, the EEMK and AED are in the compartment above the wardrobe. On the 135's, they're above the fwd galley.

Thanks for the replies.
On our 135,140,145 the current medical kit is stored above the wardrobe closet at the entrance. Stacked in a compartment with the first aid kit and AED; all of them barely fit in that space. The EEMK I saw was the size of a large softside type lunchbox, much too big to fit were the current Med Kit is. I just was curious since my company has already release the new location for it on our CRJ700s and Saabs but not the ERJs.
Once again thanks for the replies.
