How much is the seperation between the two Aircrafts.
What happens in case of an Emegency.

It would only be a matter of feet, decreasing to zero as the second aircraft makes contact with the refueling nozzle.

It appears that the second aircraft in lining up to refuel, but it appears that he has not yet made contact with the boom.

In case of emergency, the second aircraft would most likely break loose and descend, then take whatever action would best suit the situation.

Looks like the following aircraft is around one-third to one-half the Il-78's length behind, which makes it 50-75ft in trail.
