With improvements in technology including internet checkin, kiosk checkin, WAP, and bluetooth technologies it seems to me that the check in agents of today will not be around in another 5-10 years. With more and more airlines and airports switching check in to the internet where you can print your own boarding passes and receive all needed information the only problem seems to be the check in luggage. Located in Europe Im not sure of the advancements in the states or Asia but it seems like airport operations are in for some big changes.
