I understand these are both pretty restricted airports for commercial operations due to altitude, runway length, obstacles and local restrictions/laws.

Anyone know of a source regarding restrictions on commercial operations?

For example, what types are permitted - or not - at both points. Looks like Aspen is 146 territory for jet ops, for example.

TEX/KTEX North Americas "highest commercial airport"
Has a 64ft dip in the middle and is a real automatic seat belt tightener on approach.

Flown in there with my dad as pilot many times. Has like a 120" average snowfall per year at least that is what the FBO told me once.

the problem with the airport is the high elevation affects aircraft perfomance . All airplanes are certified thru part-25 performance requirments. All commercial and part 135 for hire airplanes must meet climb gradient ,accelerate and stop and single engine go around numbers. and at higher elevation fields the performance will not meet these requirements.

What I have hear and remeber is that the people of Aspen don't want to enlarge the airport to accomodate 737 size aircraft. Their seems to be plenty of runway for all the private jets however.

Its not just runway. Single engine climb performance is the problem at ASE. After the plane gets airborne, if it loses an engine, it may not be able to clear terrain.
